Medusa herself can randomly appear on the reels as you spin. Rather than turning you into stone, she’ll actually help you land winning combinations. She’s a wild symbol, meaning she substitutes for any other regular symbol to increase your chance of landing one of the ten paylines.

Bonus coins

The gold coin is the game’s bonus symbol, and landing six of these anywhere on the reels will trigger the hold the jackpot bonus round. Each coin will have a value in the centre, between 1-10x, 12x or 15x your bet. These prizes become active during the bonus round.

While spinning the base game, some coins can stick to the reels at random and will have an extra number at the bottom of the coin. This number tells you how long they’ll stay on the reels for, and they could hang around for up to nine spins.

Hold the jackpot

Six or more bonus coins in view on the reels will activate the hold the jackpot feature. During this round, only coins, mystery symbols, jackpot coins and blank spaces can land. You’ll start the bonus with three respins and the coins which initially triggered the feature. Each time a new symbol appears, the respin counter will reset.

Each coin you land will award the value shown, multiplied by your bet. Landing any of the jackpot symbols will trigger the corresponding jackpot, worth 20x, 50x or 200x your stake. Mystery symbols can transform into any coin, while the Medusa mystery symbols will transform into one of the jackpot coins.

Covering all spaces on the reels of any type will trigger the mega jackpot, worth 2,000x your bet. This is added to your total win, although the maximum win is 2,500x.

My verdict

The legend of Medusa is one of my favourite myths from Ancient Greece and I was thrilled to experience Wazdan’s take on it. The original game was a lot of fun to play, and the Extremely Light version is great too. It loaded up easily on my mobile, and I was able to play through a lot of spins with little effect on the battery.
