Game features

Collection and cascades

Rather than using standard paylines or clusters, symbols get collected whenever they’re next to a bird of the same colour. The birds will always collect their matching symbols whenever they’re on adjacent places, as well as the feature symbols.

After symbols have been collected, they’re replaced by new ones that fall down from above. Collecting symbols will also fill the safe meter at the top of the reels. When it fills up, it triggers the release of a feature symbol. The meter resets on every new spin.

Feature symbols

The slot includes a number of feature symbols that can appear on the reels during the base game and bonus rounds. These trigger special effects and create more winning potential. Feature symbols include:

• Wilds – The wild symbol will take the place of any other coloured symbol, helping to create bigger wins.

• Horseshoes – The horseshoe is an upgrade symbol, upgrading a colour to the next payout level. Symbols can be upgraded up to seven times for bigger wins. Some upgrade symbols can upgrade multiple levels and all symbols at once.

• Payout – The coin symbol triggers an instant win if it’s collected by one of the Pirots. These payouts can be 5x to 10,000x your bet.

• Dynamite – The dynamite symbol explodes all surrounding symbols and will expand the reels, causing a cascade and increasing the winning potential. The reels can increase to up to 8x7 though this will reset on a new spin unless the bonus round is active.

• Peanuts – The carton of peanuts spills peanuts across empty spaces of the reels when collected. This allows other Pirots to collect the peanuts and travel across the reels, potentially triggering new wins.

• XXX bottle – The XXX bottle transform nearby symbols into matching symbols when it’s collected by one of the Pirots.

• Key – If the key symbol is collected by a Pirot, the vulture Bandit is freed from its cage, and it will land on the reels to collect more symbols. It will collect a cluster at a time but triggers a showdown if it lands next to a Pirot.

• Bonus – The bonus symbol is the games scatter, and if three are collected on a single spin, it triggers the bonus round.

Train heist

Between two and four symbols on the left and right side of the grid are designated as train stations for each spin, and the Pirots will hop onto the train if they’re sitting on one of the positions. They’ll rob the train, with up to three feature symbols being added to the reels during the heist.

Showdown

If two Pirots land on adjacent spaces, they can trigger a showdown, where they move to opposite sides of the reels and then shoot randomly in all directions. Bullets will destroy surrounding symbols, triggering a cascade. If three Pirots land on adjacent reels, it’s a guaranteed showdown.

Coin game

If all symbols are cleared from the reels due to the Bandit or peanut feature, it triggers the coin game. The Pirots then try to lasso coin bags from the top of the reels and the total prize is added to your payout. However, if they catch a scorpion they’re out. The bonus finishes when no more Pirots remain.

Bonus round

By collecting three scatter symbols, you’ll unlock five free spins. During this bonus round, the symbol collection meter, size of the reels, symbol upgrade level and feature symbols are all persistent, increasing your potential winnings.

The game also includes super bonus symbols. If you collect three, you’ll trigger the super bonus round, which starts off at the maximum grid size of 8x7.

My verdict

There are a huge number of bonus features in Pirots 3, making it a blast to play.
