Double Rush Multiplier Feature

The Barbarossa Revenge game features cascade wins combined with a wild and Yggdrasil’s DoubleMax mechanic.

What does all that mean? It means:

• Cascade - If you land a winning combo, the symbols that are a part of it will disappear and be replaced with new symbols.

• Wild - One of those new symbols in the cascade will be a Wild that pops up in a random position.

• Doublemax - If the new symbols from the cascade result in a win, the cannon will fire a cannonball onto the grid doubling the multiplier.

The chained cannonballs with double multiplier values, located at the bottom of the reels, represents the Doublemax mechanic. The total multiplier starts at 1x (which is fired on the grid for the first win) and doubles after that (2x, 4x, 8x, etc.) with each consecutive cascade. The multiplier only resets to 1x in the base game once there are no more wins.

My personal best in the base game was 4 cascades - 16x multiplier

Multiplier Jumps

Like in the first Barbarossa Doublemax game, the sequel has Multiplier Jumps, which gives you the chance to score bigger multipliers during cascades. Entirely at random, a multiplier can jump up one position during a cascade (e.g., 4x jumps in front of 2x), and this can happen as many as three times in a single spin.

Cannon Cashout Feature

The Cannon Cashout Feature, also called the Golden Multiplier, guarantees a win. When this golden multiplier is shot on the reels, a cascade will result along with a double up in multiplier, increasing your chances of winning more.

Needless to say, this feature is a terrific new addition to the Barbarossa slots series.

Even death doesn’t stop Barbarossa, which I discovered when I triggered the Barbarossa Revenge free spins game. As soon as it activates, the ship is obliterated and sinks, taking you to the depths of the ocean. The reel set sits in front of the wreckage and undead Barbarossa and crew return to the reels for more excitement. The shipwreck adds to the game’s overall engagement and is a nice touch.

To activate this bonus round, a minimum of 3 scatters (skulls) need to land on the reels in a single spin. You’ll get 7 spins for 3 scatters and an extra 2 spins for each additional scatter you land (up to 11 spins).

During the frees spins round, all the base game features can occur, and typically do so more frequently. While this is fantastic in itself, what makes it even more brilliant is that there is no set limit for the Doublemax multiplier during the bonus round. Yep, that means that the multiplier continues to climb higher and higher without resetting until the round is over. This is why during the free spins game there’s true potential to hit the massive 30,000x max win.

While I didn’t land the max win, I did reach a 256x multiplier during one round and a 2048x multiplier during another. The unlimited multiplier easily makes this one of my all-time favourite free spins features.

Golden Bet & Buy Feature

You can use Golden Bet and pay 1.5x your bet to double your chances of hitting free spins. You can also choose the Buy Feature and purchase the free spins bonus round straight out, which grants you immediate access to it. My verdict

Barbarossa Revenge is a solid title that delivers an engaging and dynamic gaming experience. The only thing that surprises me about this slot is that beyond the story, bigger max win, and Cannon Cashout feature, there isn’t anything overly unique about it compared to the original. Thankfully, that’s not a bad thing since the features in the first Barbarossa game are outstanding, especially the free spins with the unlimited multiplier. All in all, it’s a fun sequel worth a spin.
