One of the things I love about slots is the dependable stream of new releases, with as many as 30 new slots landing in some weeks at PlayOJO.

That’s more than the most dedicated slots fan can keep up with, so I’m gonna flag 5 titles to look out for in May.

They are very different games from across the slots spectrum – a classic slot with hidden depths, a crash game that doesn’t crash, and a pug-powered play that takes bonus features to a new level – and there’s something for everyone, whatever your preferred way to play.

Pandora’s Treasure

Release date: 2nd May
Provider: NetEnt

In Greek mythology, Pandora opened a box and unleashed a curse on the world, so not exactly the most optimistic premise for a fun new slot. Luckily, this NetEnt version (not to be confused with Play ‘N GO’s Pandora’s Box of Evil slot) flips the narrative so that only good things emerge from the box.

I’m a big fan of 4,096 Ways slots like Cygnus 2 and Fishin’ Pots of Gold: Gold Blitz, and with its unusual Pandora’s Box symbol mechanic and 10,368x max win, NetEnt’s latest 4096 Ways effort is well worth a spin when it debuts in May.

Bar- X Infinity Reels

Released: 2nd May
Provider: Light & Wonder

Light & Wonder and the many slot brands they’ve scooped up over the years have single handedly kept the classic slot genre alive – especially the noughts and crosses theme in games like Action Bank.

Their Crucible Gaming studio’s new Bar-X Infinity Reels slot is another classic UK pub slot made for the digital age. The free spins feature with multipliers is standard stuff, but the Infinity Reels feature is the real draw. Get a cross on each of the reels and you’ll add an extra reel. If there’s a cross on that reel, you add another reel, and so on, up to 32 reels.

That feature turns what could be a super basic slot into something surprisingly sticky, and when you combine Infinity Reels with free spins and increasing multipliers, good things happen.

Pug Thugs of Nitropolis

Released: 7th May
Provider: ELK Studios

From classic slot, we go right to the other end of the slot spectrum with the latest game in the unique Nitropolis series.

ELK were my slot provider of the year in 2023 and if you haven’t played games like Pirots, Wild Toro or Nitropolis 3, you’re missing out. No other provider meshes together next-level graphics and gameplay with such innovative bonus features.

Pugs Thugs is the 9th slot in ELK’s dystopian cartoon animal world, and there’s too much going on for me to cover in 100 words. It’s a 6×6 slot with paylines that run in 4 directions – up, down, left and right. No idea how many lines that is, but it makes for some entertaining action.

The Nitro Reels feature is like nothing I’ve seen from other providers, I counted at least 4 bonus features and the free spins round has to be seen to be believed. Pug Thugs of Nitropolis is highly volatile, highly entertaining action with a 25,000x max win. Strap yourself in.

Cashpots Blazinator

Released:  9th May
Provider: BluePrint

I associate Blueprint Gaming with slots like The Goonies and Fishin’ Frenzy, and if I was to pick a provider with great bonus feature chops, Blueprint would be right up there.

Cashpots Blazinator will be welcomed by fruit slot fans, with a Money Spins cash collector bonus as well as the Blazinator mechanic, meaning paytable wins are possible on any 3 adjacent reels, not just from left to right.

Another date for the diary is 29th May, the release of Blueprint’s The Flintstones slot too. That game is bound to look great and be packed with superb features.

Kick it Multiplayer Crash Game

Released: 16th May
Provider: Playtech

Playtech have already released 3 crash games, with Cash It probably the one to focus on if you haven’t tried this format before.

Crash games like Aviator are a new frontier in gaming and though most involve some sort of plane or rocket, this one’s got a cartoony ‘football manager’ vibe. Your goal – if you forgive the pun – is to place a bet and pick a time to cash before the game ends. Like many crash games these days, Kick It Multiplayer has a chunky 5,000x max win and with each new crash game that emerges, the interfaces get a little more user friendly.

That’s just 5 of some 150 new casino games touching down at Planet OJO in May. Tune in and try these plus exclusive releases like Sweet Bonanza 1000 and Armageddon 10K Ways before anyone else in the UK.
