Why Reel King slot remake was worth the wait
Red Tiger’s new Reel King slot is a remake of a classic fruit machine that hit OJO’s World of Play in 2019.
It’s not your average Red Tiger Gaming slot machine but this Reel King Mega game combines pub fruit machine charm, a big bonus feature and a progressive jackpot to create an exciting vintage slots experience.

Graphics and gameplay
Reel King Mega may be a relatively new UK casino release from Red Tiger but it was originally a tried & tested Barcrest title (a brand now owned by Scientific Games) which has done the rounds over the years and ended up in the Novomatic portfolio. The design is all about slots nostalgia and Red Tiger haven’t messed with the fruity formula much. As backgrounds go, the blood red forest is a bit of a mind-bender, but the stacks of gold coins are more familiar territory. Not much to say on the reels design, let’s call it retro minimalist!
Game symbols feel like a mix of genres and for once, card ranks aren’t the lowest. Momentous! From low to high value, we’ve got cherries, plums, Ten, Jack, Queen and King but no Ace. Instead the top dog is a pot of gold copy-pasted from our Rainbow Riches online slot game. There’s also a Wild symbol which uses the kind of joker icon you’d often find in video poker games. All the symbols have that 90s fruit machine vibe which is suitably accompanied by the kind of casino-floor sound effects Vegas visitors hear in their sleep weeks after they get home.
Although it’s designed to evoke vintage Vegas slots, the Reel King slot interface – or the bits that really matter at least – is simple and easy to use. Red Tiger know their onions when it comes to making desktop and mobile casino slots so the spin, stake, turbo and autoplay settings are easy to find and navigate.
The important stuff
Reel King Mega is a 5-reel, 3-row video slot with 20 paylines. You can bet a total of 10p up to £200 per spin and that stake is then divided by 20 to determine the stake per line.
Because Reel King Mega is a proper vintage slot which steers clear of fancy bells and whistles, paytable wins are much more impressive than usual, especially at the lower end. Spin 3 cherries and you’ll net 10 coins while 5 of them awards 40 coins. Land 5 of the highest value symbol, the pot of gold, and you’ll win 500 coins, the games’ maximum payout on a single spin.
The Reel King Mega RTP is 95.11% which includes the timed and progressive jackpot features. A slot RTP above 95% is what you should be looking for these days, and with money back on every spin through OJOplus, you’d do well to find a better deal when you play Reel King online!
Those lovely people at Red Tiger Gaming have furnished us with a Reel King slot demo version which means once you’re logged in, you can enjoy some Reel King free play and master the features before you jump in fo’ real! Need to bump up your balance? OJO takes PayPal, debit card, credit card, e-wallets – you name it! Pretty much everything except cash monies. If it’s your first deposit, he’ll slip you 50 Free Spins too. No funny business, just a few fair terms.
How fair is Reel King Mega? As fair as it gets, we reckon. Both OJO and Red Tiger are licenced by the UK Gambling Commission so our games and people are put under the microscope to ensure everything’s above board. We’re all about safe, sensible, fun gaming too, so we’ve provided some useful tools in the Safeguard section to help you gamble responsibly.
Reel King Mega slot features
Reel King: This is the twist that makes Reel King slot worth playing. Reels are randomly highlighted with a yellow background during your play. If all 5 reels turn yellow, you’re off to the races with the Reel King bonus game.
You’ll see at least 1 Reel King character on 1 of the reels but could spin up to 5. Each Reel King will trigger a guaranteed win spin on his own special set of reels, and they’ll keep spinning until you hit a losing spin. You’ll play out each Reel King character’s bonus game consecutively until they’re all completed. Reel King reels only use 7 symbols, but your multiplier prize depends on the colour:
- • Three RED sevens = 25X stake
- • Three YELLOW sevens = 10X stake
- • Three BLUE sevens = 5X stake
- • Three MIXED sevens = 2X stake
King’s Crown: The crown from the logo above the reels can randomly leap down onto the reels and bounce around the screen, turning random symbols Wild.
Wilds and Super Symbols: The joker Wild symbol does what it says on the tin, substituting for all symbols (no Scatters to worry about here). Each standard paying symbol also has a 2x2 version that’s twice as big, so look out for those as they can appear any time.
Reel King Mega jackpots
Reel King Mega is a fairly low variance game but at any time it can be part of Red Tiger’s Daily Jackpots network, and then it becomes a progressive slot. This means you’re playing for a timed jackpot and a progressive jackpot which can be randomly awarded at any time.
The Daily Drop Jackpot is a timed prize that has to be paid out before the timer runs down. The Mega Jackpot is a progressive jackpot that gets bigger and bigger until it’s won. The bigger your stake per spin, the more likely you are to win one of these prizes.
So how do you win one? You’ll need to spin 3 jackpot symbols, though the jackpot sequence can also be triggered during any feature round.
All Red Tiger’s games use the same Gamble Wheel which we much prefer to the usual double-up type of game. It runs at 95% RTP and lets you change the odds and payouts by moving the green and red zones.
The green zone shows the odds of a win, the red zone the odds of losing. If the arrow lands in the green section, you win the prize. Land it in the red and it’s game over.
Reel King Mega just shows the oldies are still the goodies! Can you call a slot a slot without some cherries and a tasty triple 7 win? No, you can’t.
Take a trip back in time, amigo!

Twin Spin Deluxe! Yep, it’s got cherries, 7s and even bars! But that’s where the similarities end. This is the modern incarnation of a fruit machine courtesy of NetEnt, with a 6x5 grid, cluster wins and a 1000x top prize.
