Turning Snoring Around

During last month’s National Stop Snoring Week, we dragged you away from the UK’s top slots and asked you to share your worst (and funniest!) snoring videos or sounds clips of your loved ones via our social media channels. No, we weren’t mocking the afflicted – there was a greater and fairer cause behind our appeal. You see, we had shockingly discovered that snoring was affecting people on a disturbingly large scale. With research showing that 65% of Brits admit to be woken up by snoring and a horrifying 12% citing snoring/heavy breathing as a reason for divorcing their partner, OJO, the top UK online casino had no choice but to go big with this one.

We made a Snorechestra!

After reaching out and gathering our OJOers’ lovingly shared snores from OJO’s social media pages, we brought together Blue singer Simon Webbe and leading UK record producer Aubrey Whitfield, to produce a charity single with a difference – a track made with the sounds of snoring, which we referred to as our Snorechestra! The track, called ‘Snored to Sleep’ is a sleep-inducing chillout track wired with academic ‘sleep science’ which features… you guessed it, your very own snores!

The track, which is available to download from Apple Music, Google Play, Spotify and Deezer serves to both help those disturbed by snoring as well as raise awareness of sleep disorders, of which snoring can be a symptom. All download proceeds of the track will go to Hope2Sleep – a charity that helps support people with sleep disorders. What a way to turn a sleep-depriving situation into a sleep-inducing situation, ey?

Simon Webbe, a snorer himself, tells OJO:

“I never thought in a million years one of my snores would feature on a track, but it has! There’s a first for everything! In all seriousness though, it’s great that we can do something so positive with an issue that can cause health issues for some people – we’re here to help, and maybe even reverse snoring from keeping people up, to helping put them to sleep.”

Kath Hope, Founder & CEO of Hope2Sleep added:

We couldn’t believe what we were hearing when we first played the track, and how the sound of snores had been transformed into a piece of music. It could certainly relax someone and hopefully help them sleep, but more than anything, we want it to highlight the seriousness of snoring and the impact it can have on people’s lives. We can’t thank PlayOJO enough for the great opportunity to raise sleep apnoea awareness amongst snorers and those suffering from a loved one snoring, and for supporting our charity.

‘Snored to Sleep’ is available via  Apple Music, Google Play,  Spotify and Deezer to buy for 59p, with the proceeds going to Hope2Sleep.
