The below data is compiled from Forbes’ 30 Under 30 lists over the past five years, and details the demographic data of those featured split across gender, age, place of residence, education level, nationality, ethnicity and birth month.

The people analysed were those that sat specifically in the Hollywood & Entertainment, Sports, Social Media and Music sublists, as these are the sectors deemed most likely to benefit from lucky breaks, family connections or similar advantages.

Self-Made Celebs: Entrepreneurial Odds

Self-Made Celebs: Entrepreneurial Odds was created by fair bingo provider PlayOJO to reveal what the world’s ideal entrepreneur looks like, based on the gender, age, location, ethnicity, nationality, birth month and education of those featured on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 lists over the last five years. The study looked at the background of celebrities featured in the following categories of each 30 Under 30 list: Hollywood & Entertainment, Sports, Social Media and Music.

Using this data and the parallels drawn over the past five years, the study also looked at the backgrounds of the highest-earning musicians, actors, social media influencers and sports stars (aged under 30) to assign them a percentage similarity score, based on how closely their background matched that of the ideal Forbes entrepreneur.

Finally, the study also looks at key demographic data across England to assign a percentage similarity score to each region, based on gender, age, birth month and ethnicity splits. Sources used in the analysis included Forbes 30 Under 30 Lists (2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017), Social Blade, Office for National Statistics and GOV.UK.
