Aladdin is back!

Aladdin is back in town and this time, he’s coming to the big screens in a feature-length movie! The story of Aladdin actually goes back centuries – no folks, Walt Disney did not come up with the original plot. In fact, it’s believed that it was a Frenchman back in 1704. The story has been told at many a bed-time story but it’s fair to say that we really fell in love with the tale when good old Walt brought it to musical life with the animated masterpiece in 1992. But now, nearly 30 years later we get relive the Arabian magic and see that classic do its thing once again. Guys, Aladdin is back!

Aladdin – The Movie

So, the big question is, are we dealing with a musical production here? We get to sing along, right? The answer is, with a sigh of relief, yes! In fact, the very musical masterminds behind La La Land and The Greatest Showman worked with the composer of the original Disney film, Alan Mencken to create this movie. So classic faves like A Whole New World and Friend Like Me will still be there along with a couple of completely brand-new songs too.

Directed by Guy Ritchie, the genie will be played by none other than the loverly Will Smith –and we can’t wait to see how our fave Men in Black star rocks his latest blue-skinned, bun-top character. The cast will also include Mena Massoud who you might know from Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Naomi Scott (Power Rangers) and The Mummy star, Marwan Kenzari as the very naughty Jafar. Popcorn at the ready then!
